Spirituality, as the term is used in The Voidmuter, refers only to the base claim that you are not your mind, but rather the consciousness that underlies it, and any claim that may be logically derived from this base claim.

The Voidmuter makes no claims about astrology, psychic abilities, energy healing, or the like, which for some are subsumed under the label \"spirituality\".

Most specifically, the spirituality used throughout this book is a gamified form of Advaita Vedanta.

Because this book extrapolates from the base claim of spirituality into a grandiose system of self-realization which may not comport uniformly with other spiritual teachings, The Voidmuter uses the term mysticism rather than spirituality. The two terms are interchangeable, but mysticism lends itself better to The Voidmuter's uniqueness, extravagance and gamification and places a greater emphasis on transformations of being and unification with the absolute reality, as opposed to the more generic developments of mind associated with contemporary spirituality.

Spiritual gamification is the act of using the imagination to direct one’s spiritual practices.

Example 1
In The Voidmuter, breath meditation is a form of Earthmuting, but with Earthmuting you connect to an eccentric, creative, and holistic system of spirituality that can make the practice of meditation fun, exciting, and more rewarding.

Example 2
One of the core principles in spirituality is that you are not your mind. When you take yourself to be your mind you are living through a false identity which is called the ego. In The Voidmuter we call the ego “The Voice” and make it the main adversary in the game. This not only adds a little lore to your life, but can help serve to better objectify the ego and make it easier to observe impartially.

Doesn't using the imagination contradict with spirituality?

Yes and no.

While it is true that the spiritual state is an intuitive sense of being which is free of conceptualization, concepts are still useful along the path towards higher states of consciousness. Even in traditional spirituality one must have the concepts of “being”, “awareness”, “identity”, etc., to begin working towards freedom from the mind. In The Voidmuter we simply take it to the next level in order to reign in the intellect, but the essence of spirituality remains.
